Algae bloom is green water, not string or
blanket algae. It feeds off sunlight and nutrients in the water.
Very few chemicals will instantly get rid of green water (and still be safe for
fish and plants) though you can use some pond-balancing enzymes that will
encourage the pond to balance and clear up. That method, though, will take
time.

Balancing Agents Many products claim to clear up green water
but fall short of expectations. The fact is that they "help" balance the
pond. Some ponds never reach the clear balance but some can. It just
takes time and patience and lots of plants to absorb the nutrients. These
balancing agents are great to use in the pond anyway so if you would like to see
if your pond can reach its balance and clear up, you have nothing to lose if you
try them. Remember, however, patience... patience... patience...
