Ultraviolet Water Clarifiers (also called UV Lights or UV Sterilizers)

Algae bloom can literally turn a pond green after just one day of bright sunshine -- and the newer the pond the greener it seems to be!  There is no need to "put up with" green pea-soup pond water when you can do away with algae bloom once and for all by installing an ultraviolet water clarifier.  Also called pond clarifiers, sterilizers and UV's for short, these marvels of modern science kill free-floating algae to clear up your pond water and keep it clear.  We wouldn't have a koi or goldfish pond without one because we want to see those beautiful vibrantly-colored fish clearly.

The best part about purchasing your UV unit for your koi pond, goldfish pond or water garden from PondDoc.com is that we make sure you choose the right size and know the proper installation procedures so you get the most from your ultraviolet water clarifier!  You just can't go wrong with us.  We give you the benefit of our excellent experience with UVs while being competitively priced - even lower than many of our competitors.  Our Emperor Aquatics UV's (our favorite brand) are fitted to your plumbing.  We have the world's best selection of custom-fitted Emperor Smart UVs on the online market!

Important Notes About Sizing Your UV

Remember that the amount of sun the pond gets, the amount of fish load (ie. fertilizer for the algae), and the amount of muck that normally accumulates on the bottom (ie. more fertilizer for the algae) will affect the efficiency of the UV unit.  Those who have ponds on the borderlines should generally go up to the next size.

It’s important to note also that most manufacturers of UV’s rate the efficiency of their products at OPTIMUM conditions. Their ratings do not take into consideration fish load and other pond particulars. Don’t be fooled by reading the package. We have tested the practical effectiveness of the UV units we carry and know what they can and cannot do.  We give you our experienced and tested rating opinions so you don't have to rely on the manufacturer's optimum (in most cases, over exaggerated) ratings.

Flow rates through the UV will also vary the performance of the unit. Care must be taken that the water does not flow too quickly or slowly through the unit. This is one of those times when we can be helpful.  Call the Pond Doc (Cecil) at (770) 663-6325 if you have questions on which unit size and brand you should use for your particular koi pond, goldfish pond or water garden.

*UV must be sized and installed correctly.
